Dear Brother Julius:
Just a line to you to-night [sic]. Since our quarters are usually cold it is not convenient to do much writing, but we have all the clothing and blankets we need, so we get along well.
Your last letter of Oct 11th I recieved [sic] and also the 145 francs for which I thank you very much. The tobacco sent with the coat and shoes was fine and if you get a chance I would like to have you send me a little more of some American tobacco.
Three months now I have served with this section so my permission of six days is about due. I may spend these days in Paris or I may go with a friend to some place in southern France.
We have lately changed our quarters again and are now in a quiet little village quite a way from the lines but we expect to get a little more active work soon and this is what all of the fellows want as it is more interesting.
Mr. Harjes, the head of our section has just spent a couple of days with us and he is very fine to all of us. I’ve had some interesting talks with him also. As you know, Mr Harjes is a partner of Morgan of New York and is perhaps the financial man in France.
Trusting that you are all in good health and assuring you that I am well, with much love to all of you,
Your brother,
Luther
